The legend of Joe Burrow continues to grow.

As if the historic season Burrow completed during LSU’s championship season wasn’t enough, the Tigers quarterback played through some serious pain through the second half on Monday night’s win over Clemson.

Near the end of the first half, Burrow threw a touchdown pass that put LSU ahead 28-17 after trailing Clemson 17-7. On that play, Burrow took a big hit, and some speculated that he might have broken a rib on that play.

It wasn’t quite that bad, but Burrow says he did endure and injury and had to play through the pain for the final 30 minutes of the title game in New Orleans. Burrow said on the Pardon my Take podcast about his injury, and also joked about some late-night partying in New Orleans after the win.

“It’s overcoming my violent hangover right now. I’m getting pretty old,” Burrow said. “No, I tore some cartilage in my ribs.”

Burrow finished the game with another epic performance, accounting for all six of LSU’s touchdowns in the 42-25 victory, including five passing scores. He threw for 463 yards and rushed for an additional 58 yards in the win.

This is just one more story to add to Burrow’s legacy, and an incredible finish to one of the best individual seasons in college football history.
