Joe Milton enters conversation, Justin Fields still near the top of Heisman conversation

It is a yearly tradition like no other, that December trip to New York City with the Christmas lights festooning the city and the Downtown Athletic Club in its stately finery to award the Heisman Trophy, the greatest individual honor in team sports.
New odds following the Big Ten’s first week of play (the nation’s ninth) have been released, and the sports oldest conference has not won but two potential finalists on the list.
New Michigan starting quarterback Joe Milton played his way onto the big stage after a superb performance in Minneapolis to beat a resurgent Minnesota program in the Little Brown Jug game.
Milton’s coach, Jim Harbaugh, heaped praise on his quarterback, according to a piece at 247 Sports.
“Joe was great,” Harbaugh said. “First time starting, on the road against a really good team, top-25 ranked team, everything. Big Saturday night stage, the whole shebang. He was as cool as a cucumber, I’ll tell you what. He handled everything with aplomb.
“His accuracy in the passing game, a real command of the offense, and he ran the football with authority and had great ball security. Just really played an outstanding game.”
Milton has been installed at a +2200 odds to win the Trophy.
Justin Fields, the Ohio State quarterback, kept his name high in the running as well with a superbly efficient day against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Ohio Stadium. The Ohio State blog, Bucknuts, summed up the superstar quarterback’s day well.
“Fields finished the game 20-of-21 passing for 276 yards and two touchdowns. While it wasn’t a career performance in terms of yards or touchdowns, it was Fields’ most efficient day as a Buckeye, completing better than 95 percent of his passes.”
Fields finished the week set at +200 to win the award.
The battle for the Heisman Trophy is on and the B1G has two stars shining brightly.
