Tommy Stevens’ poor play in the first half of Mississippi State’s game against Tennessee on Saturday has earned him a spot on the sideline next to Joe Moorhead.

SEC Network reported that Moorhead opted to give Garrett Shrader the football in the second half after an ineffective two quarters from Stevens. He completed just 6-of-11 passes for 67 yards and two interceptions. He struggled to make plays through 30 minutes.

Shrader, who is taking over, is just a freshman.

Stevens hasn’t played exceptionally well through the first half of the season for the Bulldogs. he’s completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 448 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. He does have two rushing touchdowns.

But Mississippi State’s offense has been sluggish this year, so perhaps the change at quarterback is what the team needs. The Bulldogs were trailing Tennessee 13-3 in the fourth quarter.
