Former Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead was announced as Akron’s next head coach on Saturday after Tom Arth was fired.
He’s also already looking for his quarterbacks coach to join his staff and has one name on his radar, according to a report from Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.
Sources: Akron is targeting Billy Fessler as the school’s next QB coach. He’s an Ohio State GA, former Joe Moorhead GA at Mississippi State and played QB for Moorhead at Penn State.

Moorhead is targeting Billy Fessler, who was a quarterback for Penn State while Moorhead served as the team’s offensive coordinator from 2016-17.
Fessler most recently was an offensive graduate assistant at Ohio State in 2020. He also had the same role for Moorhead while he was head coach at Mississippi State in 2019.
Now Moorhead wants to bring him on his staff at Akron.
