Joel Klatt took time during his recent podcast episode to tackle the situation at Wisconsin and the removal of head coach Paul Chryst. While there is a case to be made for making a move, Klatt gave a warning for the Badgers as they move ahead.
“Be careful what you wish for at Wisconsin,” Klatt explained. “Paul Chryst was very successful, and it’s not easy at places that don’t have a natural recruiting base to just win at a high level all the time.”

Klatt went on to reference Nebraska’s situation and search for relevancy since the firing of Bo Pelini.
“Nebraska comes to mind, and they’ve done this twice since 2000. In this century, Nebraska fired Frank Solich and Bo Pelini,” said Klatt. “You gotta be careful what you wish for. If you’re Wisconsin, it’s a razor’s edge.”
Part of Wisconsin’s reasoning for making a move this year could be the rising star of new interim head coach Jim Leonhard and Kansas head coach and Wisconsin native Lance Leipold. Both Leonhard and Leipold will likely be in the mix for a number of head coaching jobs in the near future, and the Badgers will now get their chance to make an offer at whichever coach they prefer.
