Maryland gets the top spot after a dramatic 45-44 victory over Minnesota on Friday night. Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was outstanding, throwing for 394 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 58 yards and ran for two more scores.
Michigan State also gets a shoutout for upsetting in-state rival Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Spartans pulled off a 27-24 victory thanks to great game from quarterback Rocky Lombardi.
Klatt singled out two other contributors — Linebacker Antjuan Simmons and receiver Ricky White. Simmons added 11 tackles and two pass breakups. White caught eight passes for 196 yards and a touchdown.
Lastly, Klatt put a spotlight on Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields for his big day. Fields completed 28 of 34 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns. His performance helped the Buckeyes to a comfortable 38-25 win over Penn State.
