Joel Klatt is eagerly looking forward to the Week 6 matchup between Maryland and Ohio State. He expects the game to reveal a good bit about both teams and their goals for the season.
As for Mike Locksley’s Terrapins, Klatt knows the offense can be explosive, but he’s not sure how that team will fare on the road in Columbus:
“This Maryland team is very good, in particular on offense. Now, I don’t know how great they are at the line of scrimmage and they tend to struggle when they go to Ohio State,” said Klatt. “They play Ohio State fairly tough when the game’s at home, but when they go to Columbus they have struggled.”
When it comes to Ryan Day’s Buckeyes, Klatt wants to see how the team improves the run game after struggling against Notre Dame. He pointed to a large portion of the production against the Irish coming via one long run play.
“Here’s something to watch in this game… outside of the long TreVeyon Henderson touchdown run, the run game wasn’t great for Ohio State. That run I think in large respect really hid the issues they had in the run game,” Klatt explained. “If you take that one rush out, then what they were is 26 carries, 2.5 yards per carry. That’s something that has to get better.”
In regard to Ohio State’s passing game, superstar wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to be a full go for the matchup. That is obviously some good news for the Buckeyes, especially if the run game starts to struggle.
Ohio State heads into the matchup as a heavy home favorite for the showdown. Fans looking to take part in the odds can use our signature Ohio sports betting promo code to get started!
