The final College Football Playoff rankings are set to releases on Sunday at noon, but FOX analyst Joel Klatt wanted to pitch his top 10 before the last poll was released.
Following Championship Weekend, Klatt updated his top 10, listing which team he thought deserved to be ranked No. 1 in the College Football Playoff and what B1G squad should be headed to the Rose Bowl. As he’s said all season long, Klatt believes the Buckeyes are the best team in college football.
Here are Klatt’s top four:
- Ohio State (13-0)
- LSU (13-0)
- Clemson (13-0)
- Oklahoma (12-1)
The big debate will be whether Ohio State or LSU gets the No. 1 overall ranking in the College Football Playoff. LSU destroyed No. 4 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, but Ohio State has one more win over a ranked opponent and defeated every team by double digits.
It’ll be interesting to see what the committee thinks.
Klatt went on to rank his final six teams in the top 10. While there will be some serious debate as to whether Wisconsin or Penn State reaches the Rose Bowl (usually the highest-ranked team not going to the Playoff), Klatt has made his pick.
Here’s Klatt’s 5-10 rankings:
- 5. Georgia
- 6. Oregon
- 7. Alabama
- 8. Wisconsin
- 9. Penn State
- 10. Baylor
In all likelihood, that would set up a Wisconsin-Oregon matchup in the Rose Bowl.
We’ll see if the selection committee agrees with Klatt’s rankings.
