Joel Klatt knows the transfer portal is crazy and can get crazier by the hour. For now, there is a strong group of QBs in the portal, and the FOX broadcaster has a trio of names that stand out.

The first player Klatt is blown away by is Washington State’s Cam Ward. He expects Ward to be a hot commodity and listed Ohio State as a potential fit and team to watch:

“A lot of quarterbacks (in the portal),” said Klatt. “I think the best available guys — guys that haven’t committed anywhere — would be Cam Ward. Cam Ward’s a sensational player and he’s going to be coveted, there’s no doubt. I think he would fit really well at Ohio State.”

Ward is certainly expected to be one of the top overall players available after shining for the Cougars in two seasons. He began his career at the FCS level with Incarnate Word but has grown at each step of his career.

Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel and Ohio State’s Kyle McCord are the other guys Klatt has to watch early on:

“Dillon Gabriel is out there, he’s one of my top transfer guys,” said Klatt. There are early reports indicating Oregon is a frontrunner for the former Sooner QB.

“I’ll jump on the Kyle McCord bandwagon. I think Kyle McCord is a really good play. The guy lost one game by 6 points at the No. 1 team in the country,” Klatt explained. “I know he made a mistake in that game, but he doesn’t turn the ball over, he’s a former 5-star guy and a heck of a player.”
