Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt has a serious issue with the SEC and its positions of some of the schools in the top 25, specifically No. 8 Tennessee and No. 25 LSU.

On Thursday, Klatt talked about the SEC narrative and rankings on his Joel Klatt Show:

“I don’t know if either one of these teams is any good, Tennessee has crept all the way inside the top 10… I don’t think Tennessee is a top-10 team,” said Klatt. “If we all look up at the end of October, is Tennessee going to be a top-10 team? The answer’s no.”

“In the SEC, and with a lot of AP Poll voters – and particularly the guys who hail from the south – narrative above everything! Every win in the SEC has to be better than every other win, always! How do you do that? By Mississippi State in the Top 25 and LSU in the Top 25.”

There are 7 SEC teams ranked in the top 25 with 4 of them being ranked in the top 10. LSU is ranked ahead of Washington and Florida State, who each have one loss. LSU lost to Florida State in a head-to-head matchup 24-23 in Week 1 of the 2022 season.
