John Walker, 4-star Michigan and Ohio State DL target for 2023, announces commitment decision

Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola 2023 defensive lineman John Walker has made the call as to where he’ll be playing collegiately.

The big 6-foot-3, 310-pounder had Ohio State and Michigan among his finalists, while Miami, Florida, and UCF hoped to keep Walker in state.

On Thursday, Walker announced his commitment, opting to spurn the Buckeyes and Wolverines to head to Orlando and play for Gus Malzahn and the Knights. He is the 8th player in the class of 2023 to commit to UCF.

“They had me at top priority. They showed me they need me,” Walker said in an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons.

A top 100 prospect according to 247Sports’ composite ranking, Walker was considered the No. 11 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 23 player in the state of Florida.
