Johnny Davis will not be returning for another season at Wisconsin. The projected lottery pick will be heading to the NBA Draft to continue the rest of his playing career.
Davis led the team in scoring with 19.7 points per game. He also led the team in rebounds as well with 8.2 rebounds per game. Davis was a 3-star recruit from Central High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin per the 247Sports Composite. He originally enrolled at Wisconsin in August of 2020.
He posted a video about his decision, followed by a statement from his twitter account on Thursday. Here’s what Davis had to say:
“I want to thank coach Gard for believing in me and for putting me in a position to pursue my dreams,” said Davis. “I want to thank the assistant coaches and trainers and the rest of the staff at UW who made this program so special. More importantly, I want to thank my family who has been there and supported me every step of the way. With that being said, I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream and will be declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft.
The NBA Draft Lottery will be on May 17, while the NBA Draft will be June 23 in Brooklyn, New York.
