Jonathan Taylor continues dominance in NFL with latest accomplishment

Jonathan Taylor is having quite the season for Indianapolis.

The 2nd-year running back for the Colts entered Sunday’s game against Houston with 1,205 yards and 14 touchdowns. Already this season he has tied an NFL record for consecutive games with 100 rushing yards (8). Against the Texans, he joined elite company for another reason.

With a 1-yard run in the first quarter to open the scoring Sunday, Taylor became one of just 5 running backs in NFL history to have a rushing touchdown in 10 consecutive regular-season games.

He joins NFL Hall of Famers John Riggins, Emmitt Smith, and LaDainian Tomlinson, as well as former Kansas City Chiefs back Priest Holmes.

This season, Taylor also became the fastest back in franchise history to hit 1,000 rushing yards in a year and just the 11th player in NFL history to have 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of his first 2 professional seasons.

Taylor was a 2nd-round pick of the Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft. He ran for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie campaign. That was after a Badger career that saw him earn consensus All-American honors twice. The New Jersey native ran for 6,147 yards and 50 touchdowns in 3 seasons in Madison (the 4th-most by a running back all-time).
