Jonathan Taylor, former Wisconsin RB, agrees to 2-year extension with Colts

Former Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts agreed to a 2-year $44 million extension worth up to $47 million with $39 million guaranteed.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal was finalized on Thursday.
Taylor posted one of the best seasons of his career in 2025. He led the league in rushing attempts and rushing touchdowns, totaling 1,585 rushing yards at an impressive 4.9 yards per carry. And across the entire season, Taylor lost just one fumble.
2025 was Taylor’s best season as a receiver, too. He hauled in 46 passes for 368 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns, which brings his all-purpose yards just under 2,000 and his all-purpose TDs to 20.
Taylor first entered the league in 2020 after being selected by the Colts in the early stages of the 2nd round. He’s achieved 1,000 yards rushing every season in which he’s appeared in more than 14 games. For his 6-year career, Taylor has totaled 7,598 rushing yards with 76 all-purpose touchdowns.
Despite Taylor’s success, the Colts haven’t been able to do much with his talent. Taylor took Indianapolis to the Playoffs during his rookie season, but since then have failed to eclipse 10 wins with 4 seasons above 8 wins.
