Cardale Jones will hit the re-set button on his NFL career. And fortunately for him, he’ll trade in snowy Buffalo for sunny Los Angeles.

The Buffalo Bills announced that they traded the former Ohio State quarterback to the Los Angeles Rams for a conditional draft pick. There, Jones will reunite with fellow Buckeyes Joey Bosa and Joshua Perry, both of whom were 2016 draft picks.

Jones, who was a fourth-round pick from the Bills in 2016, expressed his approval of the deal on Twitter:

Jones only spent one year in Buffalo, where he didn’t get a chance to start. He played in one game and completed 6 of 11 passes for 96 yards as the third-string quarterback.

After starter Tyrod Taylor agreed to a new deal in Buffalo, Jones was looking at a backup role at best. That is, only if he beat out fifth-round pick Nathan Peterman.

Instead, Jones will head to Los Angeles, where he’ll get a chance to back up 35-year-old Philip Rivers, as well as 34-year-old Kellen Clemens. The Chargers don’t have a “quarterback of the future” on the roster.

Perhaps Jones could be that guy. Chargers’ coach Anthony Lynn seems optimistic:
