Josh Pate explains how bad Scott Frost’s presence had to be for Nebraska to fire him early

Everyone on planet Earth that follows college football knew it was only a matter of time before Scott Frost was fired. Those who follow close enough are still confused by Nebraska’s timing on the decision.
So which is it? The Cornhuskers lost to Georgia Southern Saturday night and Frost was gone before 24 hours had passed. It seems like the easy solution until you realize Frost’s buyout terms lost Nebraska $7.5 million because the program couldn’t wait 3 more weeks until Oct. 1.
Apparently, money is not an issue. 247Sports analyst Josh Pate weighed in:
“I don’t really know what to say, I don’t care how flush with cash you are, $7.5 million is a lot to everyone,” Pate said Sunday. “I say all that to say you’ve gotta be really bad to have 3 weeks of your presence be worth $7.5 million to get you out of the room. But that’s where they were at Nebraska.”
Mickey Joseph will fill in as interim head coach for the Huskers, who take on No. 7 Oklahoma this coming week.
