Former Ohio State star Josh Simmons has reportedly inked his rookie contract with the Kansas City Chiefs as he gears up for his rookie season in the NFL.

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the signing via Simmons’s representation. The full value of Simmons’s 4-year rookie deal is just over $14.6 million and comes fully guaranteed.

Simmons was one of the top offensive tackle prospects in all of college football this season. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending injury in the 6th game of the season. That injury allowed Simmons to slide, where the Chiefs were able to grab him with the final pick of the first round.

The good news is Simmons and his camp have routinely indicated he will be ready for training camp, so he could be in line to make an early impact as a rookie. The Chiefs recently revealed jersey numbers for their draft picks, and Simmons will get to keep the No. 71 he wore for 2 seasons in Columbus.

After blocking for the Buckeyes, Simmons will get a chance to block for superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes to begin his NFL journey. Kansas City advanced all the way to the Super Bowl this past season, so Simmons should get a chance to continue competing for titles out of the gate.
