Julian Sayin says he models game after former Ohio State QB

Say what you will about Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin: He knows how to pick signal-callers after which to model his game.
Sayin, who appeared with the Buckeyes contingent Tuesday during Day 2 of Big Ten Media Days in Chicago, said he wants to emulate his style after Joe Burrow – a QB who started his career at Ohio State, won a Heisman Trophy during an undefeated national championship season at LSU and has already played in a Super Bowl with the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I think I like to model (myself) after Joe Burrow,” Sayin said during an appearance with Danny Parkins on FS1’s “First Things First”. “Someone who is a super smart QB and really good processor, accurate with the football. He’s an elite QB. … I love watching him play. That’s who I would try to model my game after.”
Sayin delivered a stellar redshirt freshman year for Ohio State in 2025, throwing for 3,610 yards and 32 touchdowns to help the Buckeyes back to the College Football Playoff. That still pales in comparison to Burrow’s insane numbers in 2019 at LSU – where he threw for 5,671 yards and an NCAA-record 60 touchdowns en route to a 15-0 campaign.
Burrow went No. 1 overall to the Bengals in 2020, reached Super Bowl LVI at the end of the 2021 season and led the NFL in passing yards (4,918) and touchdown passes (43) in 2024.
