Ohio State is firing on all cylinders, waking up after its first possession to take a first-half lead over Clemson!
The first drive was a quick three-and-out for the Buckeyes with a fumble by Justin Fields. Since then, it has been an entirely different story.
Ohio State’s defense has given up 14 points so far but also came up with some crucial stops. That has allowed Trey Sermon to score an early touchdown with Garrett Wilson providing an incredible catch to set up a second score.
The driving force behind all of it has been quarterback Justin Fields, who may have started slowly but has been on fire since that opening drive. He threw his first touchdown of the game to Luke Farrell, and he added another one in the second quarter to tight end Jeremy Ruckert.
It was a beautiful play as Ohio State started shifting the pocket to the left side of the field while Ruckert worked his way down the right sideline. The play design was beautiful as Ruckert was wide open.
Fields’ throw was true and Ruckert was clear into the end zone for Ohio State’s first Sugar Bowl lead at 21-14:

To start the game, Fields is 8-for-9 throwing with 145 yards and two touchdowns. He has also been effective on the ground, picking up 42 yards on five carries.
Let’s see if he is able to keep this up and lead Ohio State to a win over the Tigers.
