Justin Fields is No. 3 quarterback off the board in PFF’s latest NFL mock draft

The percentages are terrible when it comes to NFL teams attempting to draft franchise quarterbacks, but they’ll never stop trying, the dream of the perfect pick is just too beautiful.
The class of 2021 is regarded as well larded with signal-calling prospects, from North Dakota State’s Trey Lance of the Missouri Valley Conference to Kyle Trask out of the University of Florida and the mighty SEC. According to 247 Sports’ latest mock-up, Ohio State’s Justin Fields will be the third quarterback to get off the board, down from a battle for first or second, but still remains the fourth overall selection in the entire draft, going to the Atlanta Falcons in this scenario.
Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence is forecast to go first to the Jacksonville Jaguars (with rumors swirling former Ohio State head man Urban Meyer might be taking over coaching duties), while BYU’s Zach Wilson will go second to the New York Jets, per the mockup.
Fields has had an up and down season for Ohio State, hampered by a shortened six-game schedule and three cancellations by either the Buckeyes or their opponents as a result of COVID-19 testing protocols. Fields will get at least one last chance to prove himself on the big stage as the Buckeyes take on the Clemson Tigers Friday in the College Football Playoff.
The draft order is always fluid and Fields could play his way into, or out of, a better spot.
