Justin Fields and the Bears made it official Friday, putting pen to paper on Fields’ rookie contract.

The team announced the move Friday afternoon, indicating that it is a standard four-year contract with a fifth-year option. Chicago moved up to No. 11 overall to grab Fields in the NFL Draft with Fields now competing for the starting quarterback spot with veteran Andy Dalton.

The Bears shared an image from Fields’ signing:

Though the Bears did not share the financial details of the contract, Tom Pelisssero reported Thursday that the deal is worth north of $18.8 million with an $11.085 million signing bonus.

While Fields still has to win the starting job over Dalton, he has already been impressive in OTAs. Head coach Matt Nagy has raved about the early performance of Fields, both with his deep-ball throwing and aggressive mentality. Darnell Mooney, a wide receiver for the Bears, also shared how he has enjoyed his time working with Fields.

Even if Fields does not open the season as the starter in Chicago, it sure sounds like he will be making a push before long.
