Justin Fields is in the middle of a breakout stretch during his second season with the Chicago Bears. A big reason for that breakout stretch has been the increased usage of Fields as a runner.

In Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, Fields had an especially productive outing. He went 17-for-28 passing the ball for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air. However, it was his work on the ground that proved the difference.

Fields led all players with 15 carries and turned in 178 rushing yards for a touchdown. That makes Fields the first player since at least 1950 with 3 passing touchdowns and 150+ rushing yards. He also broke a QB record.

Those 178 rushing yards by Fields sets a new record by a QB in a regular season game. It was also his first game of the season with 4 total touchdowns.

When it was all said and done, the Bears came up just short with a 35-32 loss to the Dolphins, but the play of Fields is the big key for a team in full-on rebuild mode. Fields is showing he can be a focal point of the offense to build around moving forward.
