Justin Fields lived up to the hype…at least in Week 1.

The former five-star quarterback brought plenty of expectations with him to Ohio State when he transferred in from Georgia. And in his first start of his career, he delivered in a big way.

Fields finished his first game with five total touchdowns, four passing and one rushing. That total tied Dwayne Haskins’ record for a first career start, according to Eleven Warriors. Last season, Haskins accounted for five total touchdowns in a big win over Oregon State. All of his were passing touchdowns.

At the end of the game, Fields was 18-of-25 for 234 yards and four touchdown passes. He had 61 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, as well.

Ohio State posted a 45-21 victory over FAU to start the year 1-0.

Next week, the Buckeyes welcome Cincinnati into The Horseshoe. The Bearcats registered a 24-14 win over UCLA in their season opener, as well.
