Juwan Howard gives passionate response when asked if he hopes to continue as Michigan’s head coach

Juwan Howard’s tenure as Michigan’s head coach has often been a roller-coaster, particularly over the past couple of years.
Howard has been apart of multiple altercations and also underwent offseason heart surgery this past offseason, causing him to miss the first part of the 2023-24 campaign.
Michigan’s on-court success has also waned in recent seasons. Things started off well, as the Wolverines reached the Elite Eight as a No. 1 seed in Howard’s second season at the helm. But now, Michigan is now in the midst of what will likely be its second consecutive missed NCAA Tournament.
After Michigan’s latest loss to Michigan State on Saturday night, Howard was asked if he would re-think whether or not he wants to remain with the Wolverines going into next season.
“Oh, no. Never. I am bought in,” Howard said. “I love this place and I love our players and I never ran or I never quit in my life. That’s a good question because that let me know that you really don’t know me.
“If you get to know me a little bit better and know my story, every time and everywhere I’ve been, I’ve always faced the noise, and I roll up my sleeves and find solutions. And we’re going to be solution-based as we finish the season going on to … next season is not here. We’re going to finish this season off strong.”
Howard also said he’s getting healthier after recovering from his offseason procedure.
Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel gave Howard a vote of confidence last week and said he hadn’t considered making a change this offseason.
The Wolverines are now 8-18 on the season. They will look to get back in the win column on Thursday against Northwestern.
