Juwan Howard and the Wolverines are moving on, getting past Texas Southern safely and into the Round of 32.
For Michigan, there was very little drama to start the NCAA Tournament. Mike Smith and Hunter Dickinson led the way offensively for a Wolverines squad that was able to suffocate the Tigers on defense.
In the second half, Texas Southern was able to cut the lead to 12 but never got any closer the rest of the way. Howard and company cruised to the end for the 82-66 win, his first NCAA Tournament win as head coach of the Wolverines.

After the game, Howard was asked about Michigan’s Round of 32 opponent in 8-seed LSU. While there’s no doubt Howard will get the Wolverines prepared, he said he wants to take a moment and be able to enjoy the win from Saturday.
Teddy Gutkin with The Michigan Daily shared Howard’s comment:

The Wolverines will face the Tigers on Monday, and Howard and company will have their hands full. LSU is led by three dynamic scorers, including freshman Cam Thomas who averages 22.6 points per game.
