Kalen King is one of the best defensive backs in the Big Ten. The Penn State corner has cracked 3rd-team All-B1G honors last season and is projected to up the ante even higher in 2023.
On Tuesday, King held some high praise for assumed starter Drew Allar heading into his sophomore season. King insisted that Allar threw “maybe 2 picks” all of preseason camp.
This comment came after head coach James Franklin insisted it took until practice No. 13 (out of 14) to throw an interception against the Nittany Lions’ full-time defense.
Here’s more of what King had to say about Allar’s early look at practice.
Penn State cornerback Kalen King, a preseason All-American pick, on Drew Allar’s ball security:
“That whole camp, I think he threw maybe two picks. .. He was protecting the ball like crazy, not doing anything to damage the offense. Making the right choices, making smart moves.” https://t.co/99xYygU31h

Allar was a 5-star prospect for the Nittany Lions as part of a strong 2022 class that ranked inside the top 10 with a trio of 5-star talents. He was listed as the No. 3 overall prospect in the country by 247Sports.
He waited his turn behind Sean Clifford. But with Clifford off the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, it’s now Allar’s time to shine.
We’ll see what Allar’s got this Saturday when the Nittany Lions take on West Virginia at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
