Kansas AD Jeff Long releases statement after team’s second loss to FCS team in 4 years

Kansas football is, well, not good.
When it comes to Power 5 programs that just don’t stack up with the rest, a safe best can always be made on Kansas. It seems like the Jayhawks haven’t ever been tough team to play.
David Beaty, the Jayhawks coach, is in his fourth season with the team. In Week 1 to open the 2018 season, Beaty’s group lost to Nicholls 26-23. It was the second time with Beaty in charge that Kansas has lost to an FCS opponent.
This is where the story gets more interesting.
Kansas had a chance at the athletic director spot over the spring as Jeff Long took over. With the football program being what it has been under Beaty, it’s only natural to assume that a new athletic director may want to make his mark and hire a coach that he likes with the team struggling.
Again, when is the last time Kansas football hasn’t struggled?
Following the loss to Nicholls, Long released a statement:
KU AD Jeff Long released this comment today re: football … "We all expected a different outcome Saturday but I continue to support our student-athletes and coaches and ask all Jayhawks to do the same. Our evaluation of the program is on-going without a predetermined timeline."

Sure, Long said he supports his student-athletes and coaches. But did he actually mean all of the coaches? Does Long truly support what the football program has looked like under Beaty?
We’ll find out sooner than later. Especially if Kansas posts another 1-11 season like it did in 2017.
