Tamba Hali will officially retire as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

On Monday, the organization announced that it has signed Hali to a one-day contract so that he can retire as a Chief. He spent his entire 12-year career in the NFL with the franchise. The linebacker was a first-round draft selection in 2006 out of Penn State, going No. 20 overall.

During his career, Hali played in 177 games for the Chiefs and is responsible for 596 tackles, 105 for loss, 89.5 sacks, 32 forced fumbles, 16 passes defended, 2 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns. His sack total is the second-most in franchise history, behind only Derrick Thomas.

Hali was a 6-time Pro Bowl selection and a two-time second-team All-Pro. In 2006, he was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team.

Before his NFL career, Hali played at Penn State from 2002-05 and was a unanimous All-American following his senior season. He was the B1G Defensive Lineman of the Year and helped lead the Nittany Lions to an 11-1 record and a B1G title that season.

Hali has not played since the 2017 season.
