Katin Houser, Michigan State QB and 2023 starter, reveals future plans

Katin Houser started 7 games this season as a redshirt freshman quarterback for Michigan State. Originally recruited under Mel Tucker in the 2021 recruiting class, Houser reportedly revealed his future plans on Monday.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Houser intends to enter the transfer portal and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining. As a first-time transfer, Houser will be immediately eligible if he does indeed decide on a new destination.

Houser started 7 games while appearing in 11 of 12 games for Michigan State as the Spartans finished the season 4-8. The QB completed 58.6% of his passes for 1,130 yards, 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions to go with 2 rushing touchdowns.
During the season, Houser split reps with Noah Kim and Sam Leavitt under center. This will be the second straight offseason a starting QB for the Spartans has entered the transfer portal. Last season, Payton Thorne hit the portal and eventually landed as the starting QB for Auburn after a two-year run with the Spartans.
