Keegan Murray looks to be making his NBA debut on Saturday after missing the Sacramento Kings’ season opener against the Portland Trail.

The No. 4 pick in this year’s draft entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols with an unspecified illness.

Murray left the draft as a controversial pick over guys such as Shaedon Sharpe and Jaden Ivey, but after a stellar Summer League campaign averaging 23 points and 7 rebounds, the former Hawkeye sits as one of the favorites to take home the Rookie of the Year award.

The Kings hope that Murray can be one of the final pieces in their excruciatingly lengthy rebuild, which has lasted nearly 20 years. Murray was not highly recruited out of high school in Grand Rapids, but Iowa head coach Fran McCaffrey decided to take a chance on the in-state kid.

As a sophomore, he bolted up the draft boards, averaging 23.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.9 blocks while flashing the potential to be an elite two-way player.
