Keegan Murray wrapped up the regular schedule for his rookie season with the Sacramento Kings Sunday night. Though that game ended in a loss, Murray and the Kings will be in the NBA Playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

In the loss for the Kings, Murray finished with 14 points on a 6-for-12 shooting night with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. He also produced one of the plays of the game for Sacramento.

After an entry pass into the post, Murray hit a cut toward the lane. He beat his man on the cut and took a pass just in time to take off for a slam.

One Denver defender met him at the rim, but it was not enough. Murray put the defender on a roster with a vicious finish:

Keegan Murray’s rookie season

After being selected by the Kings with the 4th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Murray developed into a starter and key piece for the team. Murray averaged nearly 30 minutes played per game while averaging 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

The bigger piece of Murray’s game is his efficiency after shooting 45.3% from the field. He was also impressive from deep, shooting 41.1% from 3-point range.

Taken at face value, Murray’s numbers may not be enough to win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. However, few rookies have played their assigned role as well as Murray, and his worth for one of the best teams in the Western Conference should certainly be considered.
