Kennesaw State quarterback Ladarius Clardy was found dead in a car near Pensacola, Fla., early Thursday morning.
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons told reporters Clardy, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with multiple gun shot wounds, Simmons said.
The car had been hit with at least 50 gun shots, the sheriff added.

Clardy was a rising sophomore at Kennesaw State and appeared in two games last season. Before enrolling at Kennesaw State, Clardy became the all-time leading passer at Pine Forrest High School with nearly 6,000 yards.
“We are devastated and heartbroken over the death of Ladarius Clardy,” KSU coach Brian Bohannon said in a statement. “Ladarius was an excellent teammate and left a mark on this program with his positive attitude. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ladarius’ family at this difficult time.”
