Kenneth Walker III spent just one season in East Lansing, but he turned in an incredible performance for the ages.
During his one year with the Spartans, Walker rushed for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns while finishing 6th in the voting for the Heisman Trophy. He was a consensus All-American for 2021 and captured the Doak Walker and Walter Camp Player of the Year Awards.
Included in his individual performances are a pair of 200-yard games for the Spartans. Walker also rushed for 197 yards and 5 touchdowns – including a go-ahead score with 5 minutes remaining – to knockoff arch-rival Michigan.
In recognition of his performance, Walker has been awarded Michigan State’s George Alderton Male Athlete of the Year Award. He is the first Spartan football player to take home the award since Darqueze Dennard in 2014.
