Former Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker has been named the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl LX.
Walker played a sensational game for the Seahawks, rushing for 135 yards and 27 carries. He also caught 2 passes for 26 yards.
Although Walker didn’t find the end zone, many of his runs helped set up field goal opportunities for the Seahawks. Seattle only scored 1 offensive touchdown but kicker Jason Myers drilled 5 field goals in the 29-13 win.
Walker snapped a decades-long drought for running backs by taking home Super Bowl MVP. He’s the first player at that position to win MVP since Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos did so way back in 1998.
While the winning quarterback often wins MVP, that wasn’t the case on Sunday as Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had an up-and-down night. He threw 1 touchdown pass but totaled just 202 yards on 38 carries.
Walker is the first former Big Ten player to win Super Bowl MVP since Tom Brady in Super Bowl LV.
