With the transfer portal officially opening Monday, a number of players are expected to make the move around the country. Some of those players are likely going to be veterans with the ability to make an immediate impact on a program.

One of those players to hit the portal is NC State quarterback Devin Leary. Leary was limited to 6 games this season due to an injury but has a lengthy list of accolades that should draw serious interest in the portal.

“2022 did not go as expected, but I will never question God’s timing,” Leary wrote via social media. “… With that being said, after much prayer and consideration, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal for my final year of eligibility.”

Leary was a 4-star prospect coming out of high school and was not short on offers. He threw for over 6,800 yards in his NC State career with 62 touchdowns to just 16 interceptions and added 5 rushing touchdowns. His best season came in 2021 when Leary threw for 3,433 yards and 35 touchdowns while completing 65.7% of his passes.

It will be interesting to see where he winds up, but any team needing a QB would seem likely to contact Leary.
