Syracuse football will be without center Sam Heckel when they visit the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday after he suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury against Liberty last week according to Syracuse.com.

He left in the second quarter of Syracuse’s 24-0 victory at Liberty and didn’t return.

Without Heckel, the Orange are expected to make significant changes to accommodate the loss. Junior left tackle Airon Servais will move from left tackle to center while redshirt freshman right tackle Carlos Vettorello will flip to left tackle. Graduate transfer Ryan Alexander will be inserted at right tackle.

In light of this news, Maryland’s defensive front has to be chopping at the bit to get on the field Saturday. The Terrapins posted eight sacks for a loss of 52 yards in the season opener against Howard last week.

Syracuse and Maryland will kick off at noon ET on Saturday.
