Khaleke Hudson is heading to Washington.
The Michigan linebacker was selected with pick No. 162 in the 2020 NFL Draft, becoming the second defensive player from the Wolverines to be drafted. He will begin his career with the Washington Redskins after his fifth-round selection on Saturday.
Hudson was one of the B1G’s top tacklers in 2019, totaling 101 stops in 13 games for the Wolverines. He posted three tackles for loss, three pass break-ups and blocked one kick during his final year in Ann Arbor. Fellow linebacker Josh Uche was selected at No. 60 by the New England Patriots on Friday night.
Two other Wolverines have also been selected this year — center Cesar Ruiz (first round) and offensive guard Ben Bredeson (fourth round).
Hudson really burst onto the scene in 2017, when he had a monster performance against Minnesota. In that game, he recorded eight tackles for loss in a lopsided victory for the Wolverines. He ended his sophomore year with 18 tackles for loss, 82 total stops and two interceptions.
During his time in Ann Arbor, Hudson has been a leader on Michigan’s defense. He hasn’t been talked about much at the next level, but clearly the Redskins were willing to take a risk on the linebacker.
