Michigan has massive expectations coming into this season. It hasn’t lived up to them.

Michigan State, its in-state rival (whether the Wolverines want to admit it or not), also had bigger expectations than what has occurred on the field. As it stands, the Spartans are 4-4, their defense hasn’t been as dominant and the offense has had numerous issues.

Despite all of that, Michigan-Michigan State is a highly-anticipated game each and every year. It’s a chance for both programs to get the “leg up” on the other. If Harbaugh loses, it’s another “big” game he would have against him. If he wins, the Spartans move down to 4-5 and the “fire Dantonio” chants can grow louder.
