Kinnick Stadium is home to the Iowa Hawkeyes with one of the best game-day environments in the B1G and across the country. This fall, Kinnick Stadium will have a new — and tasty — piece to add to the fan experience.
The Hawkeyes announced Tuesday that gamedays at Kinnick will feature the new “Der Viener Schlinger,” an air-powered hot dog cannon from Wimmer’s Meats. The hot dog cannon will be operated by Iowa’s spirit squad and will give fans a chance to catch a hot dog.
A mock-up of the hot dog gun was included in the release with the cannon embedded in the middle of a large hot dog and bun. The top of the cannon also includes visible grill marks, ketchup and mustard.
The mouth of the cannon will be surrounded by a pair of Hawkeye logos with the Wimmer’s logo on the side.

Traditionally, air cannons have been reserved for the distribution of t-shirts. We’ll see how the hot dog cannon works out, but it sounds like a fun and great addition to a football Saturday.
