Kirby Smart is getting ready to lead his Georgia program in a virtual home game for the College Football Playoff semifinals. With the Peach Bowl played in Atlanta, the Bulldogs are playing in their own backyard against Ohio State.
Whether it is the proximity to Athens or other reasons entirely, a rumor surfaced during the week that Georgia potentially videotaped Ohio State’s practices inside Mercedes Benz Stadium during closed practices.
During Thursday’s media availability, Smart was directly asked about the rumor. The head coach of the Bulldogs said he had no idea about the rumor and said such a rumor is “ludicrous to me.”
In fairness, such a rumor is likely just that: a rumor and speculation surrounding a high-profile game between blue-chip programs with a trip to the national championship on the line. Then again, Smart would not be the first head coach (in NCAA or the NFL) to try and get a leg up on his opponent with some extra help.

We’ll see if anything else becomes of the situation, but Smart’s comments indicate it is a non-issue.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I mean that’s ludicrous to me.”
