Kirk Cousins was in disbelief after his Minnesota Vikings completed the largest comeback in NFL history on Saturday.
At halftime, the Vikings were down 33-0. After 3 quarters, the Vikings were still down big, trailing 36-14. However, the Vikings would explode for 22 points in the 4th quarter, forcing overtime.
In OT, both teams punted away before the Vikings finally got into field goal range. The FG gave the Vikings an improbable 39-36 victory, securing the largest comeback in NFL history. After the game, Cousins could not believe what had happened.
“We just pulled off the biggest comeback in NFL history. Okay, I’m going to need a second, Tom,” said Cousins.
Asked about a switch at halftime, Cousins admitted the team kept believing in spite of some frustrations.
“There was belief (at halftime). Patrick Peterson said all we need is 5 touchdowns, I thought he was being sarcastic. Obviously, there’s some yelling, there’s some frustration, but that doesn’t just happen. Basic people don’t do what we just did.”
“In NFL history?!”

The previous largest comeback in NFL history was 32 points, achieved by the Buffalo Bills against the Houston Oilers in the 1992 NFL Playoffs.
The Vikings also clinched the NFC North with the record-breaking victory, improving to 11-3 on the season.
