Kirk Ferentz can hit impressive career milestone this weekend

Iowa faces one of its toughest opponents of the season this Saturday on the road in Wisconsin. That’s probably all Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz is thinking about, but if Iowa wins, it will be an important milestone for the Hawkeyes coach.
Ferentz enters this weekend with the sixth-most Big Ten wins in history. With another victory, Ferentz will tie Joe Paterno for fifth all-time on the conference’s wins list.

While Paterno leads FBS history with 409 wins, Penn State didn’t join the Big Ten until 1993 — 26 years into his tenure with the Nittany Lions, so Paterno doesn’t have as many B1G wins as one probably would have guessed.
Paterno coached 19 seasons in the B1G. If Ferentz wins two of Iowa’s final four conference games this season, he will pass Paterno with 95 B1G wins in 21 seasons.
Ferentz is 158-101 during his tenure at Iowa. The Hawkeyes are 6-2 this year and have No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 13 Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska remaining on the schedule.
