Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa offense are dealing with a number of injury blows, including the most recent hit with a knee injury for star tight end Erick All. During his weekly press conference, Ferentz confirmed it will be a season-ending blow for All.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel has reported the injury as a torn ACL for All, but Ferentz did not indicate the specific injury. The head coach said the team was concerned the injury was a season-ending blow on Saturday and that was confirmed during testing.
“On a sad note, unfortunately, Erick All looks like his season is over. Was worried about that on Saturday and tests confirmed that,” said Ferentz. “He’s going to miss the rest of the year, just real unfortunate. He’s done a great job, newcomer to the team, a great addition. Such a positive guy, hardworking and great personality and just loves the game… Hate to lose anybody and certainly feel bad for Erick in that regard.”
As for an early recovery timeline, Ferentz explained it will be significant and set the time frame for anywhere between 6-10 months.
“It takes a while. 6, 8, 10 months somewhere in there. It’s significant, it’s unfortunate,” Ferentz said.
Following the injury to Luke Lachey, All had developed into a go-to target and the leading receiver while working with backup QB Deacon Hill. The Hawkeyes are gearing up to face Minnesota this week and are now 6-1 while coping with the absences of Cade McNamara, Lachey and now All.
