Don’t look now, but Iowa has hit 10 wins in a season once again.
It was certainly never easy, but the Hawkeyes gutted it out on the road for an incredible come-from-behind win over Nebraska. Tyler Goodson rushed for 156 yards, Spencer Petras punched in a short touchdown, and Iowa’s defense and special teams provided the big blows in the 4th quarter.
The win gives Iowa a 10-2 record on the year and guarantees a share of the B1G West title for the Hawkeyes. A Minnesota win on Saturday would place Iowa in the B1G Championship Game.
This marks the 7th 10-win season of Kirk Ferentz’s career with the Hawkeyes, including 2 in the past 3 seasons. After the game, Ferentz was asked about his feelings for this 2021 team:
“These guys are just resilient…just being resilient, being a team that has grit and that’s how I describe these guys,” Ferentz explained.
“These guys, they’re pretty good,” said Ferentz while fighting his emotions. “I love being with them, and I want to get in there right now.”
“I love being with them. I’m going to join them right now.”
