With just over a week until the season kicks off, Iowa is still searching for its starting quarterback.

Head coach Kirk Ferentz spoke with the media recently and addressed the quarterback situation, saying that a decision will likely come early next week. But it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be an easy one to make.

The current battle is between Nate Stanley and Tyler Wiegers, with neither QB separating himself from the other.

“It’s still neck and neck. We continue to rotate the guys with the ones and twos,” Ferentz said on Wednesday. “Last year, Nate was slightly ahead of Tyler and right now it’s pretty much neck and neck.”

Either Stanley or Wiegers will be replacing C.J. Beathard, who has been the unquestioned starter for the Hawkeyes the last two seasons.
