Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is encouraged by quarterback Spencer Petras’ development this offseason.
Petras is hoping to improve upon an up-and-down 2020 campaign that saw him throw just 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 8 games.
However, Ferentz is hoping that a full offseason of preparation will lead to better results for Petras and the Hawkeyes’ offense.
“Spencer went into last season cold with no spring practice or fall camp,” Ferentz told reporters on Tuesday. “His experience has allowed him to play faster and be more accurate. We are eager to see him play on Saturday.”

Ferentz also Petras’ improvement is “night and day” compared to last season. Petras is entering his redshirt junior season, but 2020 was his first year as a starter.
