Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is only focused on making his team better, not the early season rankings.  In fact, Ferentz claims he didn’t even realize Iowa climbed into the top 10 after a thorough victory vs. Indiana in Week 1.

All that matters to Ferentz is defeating rival Iowa State on the road in Week 2.

Iowa will continue to be without one of its offensive linemen as they head into the Cy-Hawk game on Sept. 11.  This season’s edition of the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry from Jack Trice Stadium is slated for Sept. 11 (4:30 p.m. EST/ABC). Despite Ferentz not caring about the rankings, the fact that it’s a top-10 matchup adds even more intrigue.

Iowa leads the all-time series 45-22 and is currently on a five-game winning streak vs. Iowa State. Iowa State’s last victory in the series was in 2014.
