Kirk Ferentz on CFB Playoff Poll: ‘That thing is really wrong frequently’

Leave it to Kirk Ferentz to have the best response to the hype around Tuesday’s College Football Playoff Top 25 announcement.
During his weekly press conference, Ferentz had a blunt but perfect comment surrounding the initial Playoff Poll that was set to come out Tuesday evening. For Ferentz and the Hawkeyes, he said the main thing is always on winning every game possible:
“It’s pretty simple, the more you win, no matter what happens, it’s better,” explained Ferentz.
He went on to say that Alabama is probably the only team that will remain consistent on the poll while other teams will filter in and out. Ferentz also pointed out that there’s no point in players and coaches focusing on the rankings:
“Alabama, they’ll probably last all four weeks,” said Ferentz, “But outside of that, that thing is really wrong frequently. It’s great for fans, it’s great for the media, but it’s not really productive for players and coaches to focus on that.”

For what it’s worth, Iowa checked in at No. 16 on the initial Playoff rankings.
