The Hawkeyes are gearing up for a showdown with Middle Tennessee State after a Week 4 bye, and head coach Kirk Ferentz updated the status of some injured offensive linemen on Tuesday.
During his press conference, Ferentz discussed how the bye week came at a good time. It allowed a number of Iowa players to rest up, including some that would have been pushed to get ready for game time if the Hawkeyes had to play Saturday.

Fortunately, Ferentz indicated that Junior OL Cole Banwart should be available for the MTSU game. Unfortunately, fellow OL Kyler Schott was injured Sunday and is likely to miss a few weeks.
Hawkeye Sports shared the transcript of Ferentz’s press conference:
The Hawkeyes should have the services of junior offensive lineman Cole Banwart on Saturday, which comes at a good time. Sophomore Kyler Schott was injured Sept. 22 and is expected to miss a couple weeks.
“Last week it would have been tough for a couple guys to make it if we played (Sept. 21),” Ferentz said. “They are back practicing now. The other guys are moving along and getting better, but we’re really not making any significant progress or significant news on the injury front.”
Hopefully, the Hawkeyes are able to be much healthier when they travel to Michigan on October 5.
