It’s Championship weekend.
Maybe not all college football fans are watching every game, but they’re at least curious as to what happens this weekend. Who will win each respective conference?
And maybe more importantly, who will be making the College Football Playoff at the end of the year? During the SEC Championship, No. 4 Georgia is leading No. 1 Alabama 21-14. If the upset stands, it would create quite a bit of havoc.
If the Crimson Tide were to lose their first game, should they still be in the Top 4?
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit broke it down as he sees it:
If Bama wins close game
1-Bama
2-Clemson
3-ND
4-UGAIf UGA wins
1-Clemson
2-UGA
3-Bama
4-NDIf Bama blows UGA out
1-Bama
2-Clemson
3-ND
4-OU/OSU debate.— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) December 1, 2018
What’s interesting about all of this is that even if Georgia were to win, Herbstreit has Alabama in at No. 3. He doesn’t even think it would be close as to whether or not the Tide would make it in.
That certainly doesn’t help Ohio State and the Big Ten. In regard to the Buckeyes, Herbstreit thinks only if Alabama crushes Georgia, then Ohio State would have a chance.
First, though, the Buckeyes need to likely crush Northwestern in the Big Ten title game. That contest is set for an 8:17 p.m. kickoff on FOX.
